3 Brand New Eclipse Stills!

Actually I remember these coming out over the weekend because I'm 10000% sure I've already seen these on a few sites over the weekend. Oh well, posting anyways!

I have to just say it-- THAT is what I pictured the Cullens looking like. The hair, the eyes, the clothes. Just sleek. Fierce. Jasper just might rock some fierce face in this one, Rose just might have a hint of her other-worldly hotness, Alice just might be the dangerous pixie, Carlisle could show us the deadly daddy side, and Esme could be the dark horse. I just think the character arcs might really really come out in this one. It just feels right

Some Quileute Bonfire time? Throw Jake in the fire if you are just sitting around Bella, make yourself useful for once!

Aside from the obvious love triangle bull crap that doesn't really even exist in the real saga for more than 5 seconds, what I wanted to point out is that Bella looks... well beautiful. Maybe it's just me? She dazzled me in New Moon, but Kristen is rocking the wig here, and the makeup looks great. Thoughts?

Husband was really really quick to point out that while Slade gets a lot right here, they really should have filmed at an angle to make TaterTot taller than Edward, and more than 5 inches taller than Bella for that matter. It seems at this angle that Tater really never has a shot to be LEADING man for Bella and will eternally be the really chisled but still really young and inexperienced doggy smelling best friend who happens to shed. Alot. Like all over the place.

She finally did it! Stephenie to release Novella about Bree

Stephenie has been quoted as saying she'd like most to write about Bree if she was going to visit the Twilight world again for literary purposes. So she announced today that she's releasing her story about Bree

Just like Midnight Sun, this story began as an exercise in character development that took on a life of it's own. So why release it now? Well Mrs Meyer handed the writing exercise to the Newborn Army and specifically Jodelle Ferderland during Eclipse filming, and like the writing, it took on a life of it's own. It became part of the plot points of the actual movie- which means readers need to know these plot points before the movie actually releases!

This may also explain WHY we are seeing so much Riley/Vickie interaction in early behind the scenes pics and footage-- they have so much more of their story worked into the silver screen version.

At the same time, it came in handy for the Eclipse film. Melissa (Rosenberg, the screenwriter) had a ton of questions about what exactly was going on in Seattle, how Victoria managed things, what Riley was like, etc. I let her read what I had then, and later gave the whole thing to the director, David Slade. David asked if Xavier, Bryce, and Jodelle (Riley, Victoria, and Bree) could read it as well, so all the parties involved would end up having a really strong foundation for their characters before the cameras started rolling. I was pleased that this side of the story would make it into the film and was looking forward to including it in the Guide.

So why not wait and put it in the Twilight Guide? Well, it seems helping our fellow human seems to be part of the appeal. Part of the proceeds will go to Red Cross Disaster relief funding. I think we could all follow Eclipse onscreen well enough without the release of this novella, so it seems that it's honestly being released to help raise money in one of the best way's that Stephenie Meyer knows best-- writing and sharing the TwiWorld with us.

Twilight cast asks us to help Shift The Power To The People

A new PSA is out, with much more interaction from Julia Jones (Leah) and Chaske (Sam). Almost every member of the movie that is of Native American descent appears, and footage from Eclipse and New Moon is also used.

Interestingly enough (and to me, slightly genius) they are asking fans to help them meet a deadline by June 30th-- you know, the release date of Eclipse? They specifically call out to Twilight fans to help. Chaske is very specific- "we don't need your money, We need your voice". They want us to send over 1 million letters to Congress to help come up with a long term sustainable answer instead of just asking for immediate financial help. Click to watch

Ok wait you know what-- NO THANKS! You'd think that one of the most massive and overwhelmingly covered topics in pop culture for the last few years would be pretty easy to nail. And if you are about to yank thousands upon millions of bucks out of our pockets with your fancy New Moon dvd, then I highly expect you do to some damn research and "get it". Hell, I respect Summit more for at least getting what Twilight was all about and not making Bella a track star and Edward a band member in a rock band (Really MTV? Really?)

EXCITED CROWDS OF TWILIGHT FANS TO UNVEIL WAX FIGURE OF HOLLYWOOD HEARTTHROB “R-PATTZ” AT MADAME TUSSAUDS NY

Crowds of screaming fans will flood Times Square to help unveil a wax figure of Hollywood heartthrob Robert Pattinson on Thursday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Madame Tussauds New York, 234 West 42nd St. (b/w 7th & 8th Aves.), Manhattan. After the unveiling, fans will be able to cozy up to R-Pattz’s figure for photos and even a hug. Once immortalized (in wax), the Twilight vampire and Remember Me star will join the likes of Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Leonardo DiCaprio – all of whom have wax figures in the famed Times Square wax attraction.

Pattinson’s figure is dressed in black trousers and fitted shirt. A jacket in a contrasting color finishes off his young, hip look. R-Pattz’s wax likeness also sports the actor’s signature tousled locks, which fans are invited to run their fingers through. Each strand of hair was inserted one-by-one by the Tussauds studio artists, who created the figure. They spent hundreds of hours studying photos and watching video footage of Pattinson to create the incredibly lifelike figure, which is posed standing up with hands on hips and will be housed in the “Opening Night Party” section of Madame Tussauds New York.

The first 100 fans who arrive to see R-Pattz’s figure on the day it is unveiled will receive free Pattinson and Twi-hard gear, as well as free admission to the attraction. Fans both young and old, often referred to as “Twi-hards,” can’t seem to get enough of R-Pattz. The young British actor became an overnight sensation following his portrayal of Edward Cullen, the beloved vampire in the film adaptation of Twilight. With a loyal following stretching across multiple continents, Pattinson is one of today’s hottest stars. In fact, Madame Tussauds London will also unveil a figure of R.Pattz on the same day as Madame Tussauds New York.

R-Pattz’s fans and representatives from Madame Tussauds NY will be available for interviews on site.

Summit releases the first official Eclipse Poster!

@twilight released the first theatrical poster for Eclipse today- I'm loving it. I like the dark color tones, I like that this one seems to be about BELLA, instead of just the love triangle and it reminds us all what the Saga is really about! This is Bella's STORY, and I always felt like Eclipse is where she begins to become her own person, no matter what the men in her life want her to do. So I like that we get a full Bella picture and Jake and Edward are second

WAIT what!!?!?? Muse WILL be on the Eclipse Soundtrack?

Why oh why didn't I head down to South by Southwest this weekend?!?

It appears despite previous reports that Muse will not be on the Eclipse soundtrack, that decision might have been reversed. Twilight Examiner reports the most recent update

TA caught up with someone from Chop Shop Music (and Atlantic Records) who confirmed that Muse would indeed be on the soundtrack for Eclipse!
A few weeks back, the news that Muse would not appear on the album rocked the fandom - which, for the most part, believes Muse is one of if not the most important contributors on the forthcoming album.
Originally, the story that Muse wouldn't appear on the album came from a Californian source that quoted Dominic Howard to say the band would not be appearing on the album thanks to "business"-related issues - not for lack of interest.
Their interest in being a part of the album, in fact, was expressed to MTV back in October of last year.
TA estimates that since SxSW was attended by both the band and Atlantic, they may have come to some sort of arrangement there.
If the source is correct, and a deal was worked out which would include Muse on the Eclipse album, it's a great day for some of us!

I think we ALL agree that Muse is the most important artist to possibly appear on any of the Twilight soundtracks. I just saw Muse 4 days ago, live in Fort Worth Texas, and while I was already a Muse fan, I'm now a Muse FANATIC. I have to say, Muse not being on the soundtrack was a huge blow for me. So MAYBE this is a light at the end of the tunnel?

Have you shopped at the Quileute store?

The Quileute nation has now opened a store and is selling both native Quileute items that are handmade, as well as some shirts specifically for New Moon with Quileute drawings. I found my way to the new site from the Quileutenation.org website, the home site for the Quileute Nation. They have a link there for "Twilight Quileute" and their own new authentic store
When Tinsel Korey visited last year, she posted this picture of her sporting a QN (Quileute Nation) sweatshirt. It's now the main picture for the website:

Even more exciting-- they are selling Dreamcatchers! They aren't made by Quileute Nation. On their site they state they are Native inspired by not made by the Quileute people

I'm not sure how much you know about some of the controversies surrounding the Twilight saga and the Quileute Nation, but they've seen very little in the way of financial success as a result of both being depicted in the books/movies as well as having a deluge of visitors to their nation. A quote from a UCLA professor sums how how this experience has not been a cash cow for the QN

“Twilight” has made all things Quileute wildly popular: Nordstrom.com sells items from Quileute hoodies to charms bearing a supposed Quileute werewolf tattoo. And a tour company hauls busloads of fans onto the Quileute reservation daily. Yet the Tribe has received no payment for this commercial activity. Meanwhile, half of Quileute families still live in poverty.

Some of the local business are seeing some increase in revenue, specifically the lodging in La Push, which has seen almost a 40% jump over the last 2 years. And the resort in La Push DID recently pair with the local tour company

The nation is scrambling to catch up and accomodate the thousands of visitors they are getting each year. They reported back in 2006 that they can get up to 500 visitors per day- so imagine how many they get NOW! The Quileute monthly newsletter, The Talking Raven, highlighted this month a feature including adding road counters in order to receive more funds for road works due to the high volume of traffic, despite only having around 700 residents. Imagine having to prove to the state of Washington why 700 people need the road finances of 15,000 per  year

Even in tourism and filming for publicity, it seems the Quileute don't get as much courtesy extended to them as Forks does as detailed in this OP-ED piece in the New York Times

Just last month, MSN.com issued an apology to the Quileute for intruding on its territory while videotaping a “Twilight” virtual tour in September. MSN.com sought permission from the Chamber of Commerce in nearby Forks, Wash., but didn’t pay the same courtesy to the Quileute. The video team trespassed onto a reservation cemetery and taped Quileute graves, including those of esteemed tribal leaders. These images were then set to macabre music and, in November, posted on MSN.com. The tribe quickly persuaded MSN.com to remove the Quileute images. 

From the New York Post, they touch on how ambivalent the QN is to making themselves a commodity

Locals marvel at how much she got right, but the economically depressed reservation is ambivalent about "Twilight" and how its 350 residents should capitalize on it. Compared to Forks, where visitors can pose with Bella's truck and participate in a "Twilight" look-alike contest, the reservation is cloaked in centuries-old anonymity.

So what can YOU do? What kind of responsibility does the average Twilight fan have in helping out the very community that is, in a small way, being exploited for our pleasure?
Remember that these are real people. And that they have a real history, in some ways, different than the one used in the Twilight Saga. Imagine someone telling your life story, yet changing half the story to fit their needs? I don't fault SM for this in anyway, but I do urge people to take this opportunity to learn more about the real Quileute Nation. And to help.

Quileute artists take pride in harvesting their own materials, whether it's raw animal sinew for a drum or cedar bark for baskets. Penn-Charles says she's felt judged by some tribal members because she knits the names of "Twilight" characters into traditional cowichin hats. They sell for $50 at the resort store, or $25 directly from her.
"They're resentful. They think we're selling out," Penn-Charles says. "It's not. It makes your car payment, or those braces your kids need."
The tribe has hired a business developer, Justin Finkbonner, who also spearheads a crusade to market Quileute and other native artists.
"We have so many talented artists here, so many untapped," Counsell says. "They don't know how to market."

So it seems the store is going to be one of the ways to help tap into those native artists, as well as a way to help the school and other local families.

It's not that the Quileute want to close off outsiders, or shun visitors. Quite the opposite, they want to educate exited fans and be participants in the way the Quileute are projected and displayed

I don't mean this to be a Debbie Downer post, or a shaming wagging finger- quite the opposite! I'd love to see fans embrace the true Quileute Nation and see the need that is there for these people that have allowed us to entire their world. Remember the next time you drop $100 on Twilight merchandise that there is an entire population of people that could benefit from those finances- and imagine how proud you'll be in 20 years of your handwoven native basket as compared to that plastic Jacob Barbie Doll. Just saying.
Do you really need another lunch box, or stickers, or pins, or whatever else? I can't judge. I own it all too. I have shrines and merchandise all over my entire home. So I'm right there with each of you. But I also feel a pressing need to help spread some of that wealth. So order a handmade paddle necklace from the Quileute Tribal kids and feel good knowing your money wasn't sucked into giant corporate America or NECA or Summit once again
I can proudly say this as I wear my authentic Quileute shirt from La Push, with a native depiction of the wolf in Quileute Art.

One thing I am proud of as well, from Summit, is that this year they seem to be getting much more savvy about the entire process. They welcomed and invited Quileute natives to the New Moon premiere, and those that attended stated they felt they were treated as royalty. And inserting a REAL Quileute language phrase into New Moon has jumped the Quileute Nation into the top 10 searches of 2010. Not Kidding. Not even close.  (you know, the almost kiss in the kitchen!)

Twilight Saga takes over TV!

So I've barely left the New Moon CAVE of my living room as I posted on twitter earlier, and I've pretty much spent every minute watching my 3 different version of the New Moon dvd, for different behind the scenes, extended scenes, deleted scenes, documentaries, making of's, interviews and more. Just awesome

So when I took a break this morning from New Moon watching, I flipped over to Showtime. You know. That channel I ordered on our TV just because they started showing Twilight? Well Twilight was starting the second I flipped over.

So score! I'm now watching Twilight, and flip up the channels to see what's on today. Oh wait.. whats that? The Twilight Saga New Moon on Pay Per View! Oh and wait, the Twilight in Forks Documentary on Pay Per View TOO!

So if you haven't had a chance to leave the house because of new babies or illness or hangovers or whatever other reason, you can grab either movie today on either Showtime or Pay Per View. Just might make your weekend!

And don't say you've already seen it 15 times. And don't tell me about the fact that you've already seen it on your home TV because you had a bootleg copy. You have to admit there is nothing like watching any of the Twilight Saga on your TV in full definition

So last night, most of us could only find the 2 min version- never fear, here is the 7 min long version, that I'M STILL NOT WATCHING! I do know that it includes the sneak peek we've all already seen. However the behind the scenes sneak peek is LONGER than the one we've all already seen, including fighting training and so on, then an actual scene comes up with Edward and Bella in her bed.

Twicon cancelled this year. Shocked. Yeah right.

Twicon has announced they are canceling the Twilight/all other vampires/emo vamp fans convention. OH so sad (waving the sarcasm flag right now). After the disaster of last year, I'm not surprised at all. While we had a particularly interesting and different experience than most other attendees, I can still completely accept that most people at Twicon were pretty frustrated.

So when they announced that this year's event would be ALL vampire related, instead of only Twilight related, most of fandom backed out. I mean... it's called TWIcon. Not Vampcon.

So too many bad business moves after another, and they are officially shutting down

March 13, 2010 – After much thought, deliberation and best intentions to survive, TwiCon Partners LLC has made the difficult decision to cease operations. Competitive pressures, coupled with the persistent nature of the economic downturn, have necessitated this action. Both of the scheduled 2010 TwiCon events have been cancelled as a result of today’s decision.

Official Eclipse Movie Website has gone live

Just like with New Moon, where we got to explore the world of New Moon, sometimes even with 360 degree rotating pictures from the movie, we now have a site from Summit for Eclipse!

Nothing yet other than the trailer but it's a sign we'll start getting so much more from Summit I think. You can't leave a website inactive for long, plus we are near the 100 day mark to countdown!

New Moon stores open in Walmart today!!!!

I almost almost forgot that the New Moon mini stores open in Walmart today, featuring Walmart's version of New Moon shirts, jewelry and more!

I tried to get as many cell phone shots as possible (while I was also picking out the bracelet and shirt I wanted for myself). I actually particularly LOVE one of the shirts and haven't seen anything like it in any of the other Twilight shops:

On top of the Twilight specific items, there are also some generic Vampire and Wolf items, like fang necklaces and so on. That part didn't annoy me as much as I thought it would. There is also a twist on the jelly bracelets this year, featuring 6 small jelly strands instead of only featuring the Livestrong type bracelets from last year. I ended up buying one of these new style bracelets, as I can even display my Twilight love at my corporate type job without being gaudy or obvious.

We have been told that in 3500 Walmarts across the nation New Moon mini stores/kiosks will be opening tomorrow (March 10th). Each store will have a New Moon Hotspot located behind the accessories area. Some store will feature 2 New Moon locations with the additional location being in the electronics area.
