Eclipse DVD releases Dec 4th, plus Special Edition info!

So Summit, as per usual, is still not confirming what the world already knows. We'll all get some tweet I'm sure next week giving us the "BIG" announcement, but for now most Twifans are sticking by the Dec 4th date. We also know these details..... and I want to say that the fact that David Slade got Stephenie Meyer on the commentary makes me want to give him my first born child. But I"m not the only Twifan that feels this way, so it would be really awkward if 1.7 million women all gave Slade babies. So we might have to all think up another way to tell Slade that he's awesome. Something that doesn't involve child support checks?

For Twilight fans, Christmas is going to come a few weeks early this year. Summit announced today that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third movie in the highly popular teen vampire/werewolf saga, will be available on DVD and Blu-ray on December 4, 2010.
In keeping with the successful release strategies of the first two movies, Summit will be releasing Eclipse on a non-traditional release day and will hype the release with a special midnight availability. So, whether you're Team Edward or Team Jacob, one thing both camps can agree upon is that they'll be staying up late on Friday December 3 to make sure they are the first ones to own the latest offering.
Summit will be releasing two versions in both DVD and Blu-ray formats. There will be a movie only version ($28.99 DVD / $34.99 Blu-ray suggested retail) and a feature-laden 2 Disc Special Edition ($32.99 DVD / $40.99 Blu-ray suggested retail). The 2 Disc Special Edition Blu-ray will also be a combo pack containing both DVD and Blu-ray versions of the film.

The special features are listed below:

DVD/Blu-ray Special Features (2-Disc & Blu-ray/DVD Combo Disc only)

  • 2 Audio Commentaries: Rob Pattinson & Kristen Stewart; Stephenie Meyer
  • Deleted and Extended Scenes
  • Photo Gallery
  • 6-Part Making of Documentary
  • Jump to... Your favorite scenes
  • Music Videos
  • Picture-in-picture Commentary (Blu-ray only)
So, tell us, are you excitedly waiting for an early Christmas present from Edward or Jacob?

Ok so a few things to point out.

-Obvs we get Pattinson and Stewart on commentary, but no Slade or Taylor Lautner?

-If this above report is true, the Blu-Ray discs ONLY will have picture in picture, which basically means you get a really awesome Eclipse version of Pop Up Video during the commentary. Instead of just a voice, a window pops up and you can WATCH a video of their commentary while you watch the movie. All of the above info comes from VideoETA and I think we are highly aware of how many copies we'll actually have to choose from at Walmart, Borders, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, etc

Amazon has no release date listed yet but you can sign up for an email for the moment it becomes available for order!

I'm also REALLY sad about the cover art. I like the version where the camera angle is more underneath Bella/Jake/Edward, like shown on the single disc version. I don't want or need a single disc version, but for the love of God I still might have to buy it!
