New Moon sold out? And receives rating of PG-13

Reader Chelea asked recently via Facebook if New Moon was sold out. And technically yes, she's right. Although it's only sold out in about 12 theaters, and as of this moment, there are only approx 350 total theaters nationwide that are preselling

The release of The Twilight Saga New Moon is still more than nine weeks away. Do you have tickets? Now might be a good time to get them since showings are already selling out.

Tickets went on sale exactly six days ago and according to Movietickets.com more than a dozen New Moon showings are now sold out. Interesting, Twilight isn’t even the most popular film
on Movietickets.com. That would be Avatar with 67% of all Movietickets.com users saying it, not New Moon, is the movie they’re most anticipating through the end of the year. As Avatar’s release date draws closer, expect sellouts for it as well.

Just to calm my own nerves, I went online to see what theaters near me had tickets available. Fandango is actually a little trickier to decode- I searched theaters near me, and searched the midnight shows. It will show locations and say " no passes" which made my heart stop for a second, until I realized those places aren't SELLING yet, not that they are sold out. So I went to MovieTickets instead, which ONLY showed me the available theaters, instead of giving me all theaters and telling me that they are sold out or have nothing available. I liked that option better! When it comes to Twilight, better to tell me what I can have, and I'll drive to it, sell my house to get to it, instead of telling me what I can't have. Never a good thing to tell a Twilighter.




I also remember vividly the midnight showing of Twilight last year. Oh the golden days, when you could buy your tickets only 3 days before (although they were very hard to get) and once we were in line (5 hours early), they began opening more and more screens, 7 in total before we got into the theater, based on such high demand from people driving up and asking if they can get tickets. That was the story we heard later from theaters all over the area, opening up many screenings at midnight just to catch up to the demand.


New Moon also is now officially PG-13 according to the MPAA
